I think this is a picture of a gamer giving his heart (again, life?) to Joan of Arc. Did they just want to pick a girl warrior?

I really don't see any message; it's probably another daft attempt at using controversy to create publicity.
IF there is a message (and this is a stretch), perhaps they are trying to communicate how your relate to the game characters you play, i.e. they cannot exist without you - the player. Your actions keep them alive.
